7-Mile Bridge Run
The 7-Mile Bridge Run 2026 is one of the most exclusive and scenic running events in the world. This 45th annual race takes place entirely over the turquoise waters of the Florida Keys, crossing the longest segmental bridge in the world. Because the bridge must be closed to all traffic, the field is strictly limited and registration is notoriously competitive.
Race Date: Saturday, April 11, 2026
The race traditionally begins at the west end of the bridge (Marathon side) and heads east, offering runners a “cloud-like” experience over the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico.
Critical Registration Dates
If you want to run, you must be online exactly when registration opens. Historically, all 1,500 spots sell out in under 15 minutes.

Key Event Details
The Distance: Despite the name, the course is actually 6.8 miles (approx. 11 km).
The Bridge Closure: The bridge is closed to vehicle traffic from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM. If you don’t cross the finish line by the cutoff, the “Sweep Bus” will pick you up to ensure the bridge reopens on time.
Packet Pickup: Mandatory in-person pickup is on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM in Marathon. You must bring a photo ID that matches your registration address—no exceptions.
Race Start: The official start is scheduled for 6:45 AM.
What to Expect
Breathtaking Views: With water on both sides and no land in sight for miles, it is a uniquely meditative (and humid) run.
Post-Race Party: The Marathon Runners Club typically hosts a massive celebration at the finish line with food, music, and awards for various age groups.
No Spectators: Because the bridge is a narrow two-lane road and is closed to traffic, there are no spectators allowed on the course. Your cheering squad will have to wait at the finish area.
Pro-Tips for 2026
Create Your Profile Early: Log into RunSignup days before registration opens. Save your credit card info and personal details so you can click “Confirm” the second the clock strikes 6:00 AM.
Book Lodging in Marathon: While many stay in Key West, the race starts in Marathon (about an hour north). Booking a hotel in Marathon for Friday night ensures you aren’t fighting for parking at 5:00 AM on race day.
Hydrate Early: There is no shade on the bridge. Even with water stations, the Florida sun reflects off the pavement and the water, making it feel significantly hotter than the actual temperature.
