John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is a world-renowned marine sanctuary located at mile marker 102.5 in Key Largo, Florida. As the first undersea park in the United States, it spans 70 nautical square miles of coral reefs, seagrass beds, and mangroves.

Amenities include:

  • Snorkeling & Diving: Explore the vibrant coral reefs and marine life via guided snorkeling or scuba diving tours.
  • Glass-Bottom Boat Tours: For a dry look at the reef, these tours offer stunning underwater views.
  • Beaches: Two small beach areas (Cannon Beach and Far Beach) are available for swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking.
  • Kayak & Canoe Rentals: Paddle through scenic mangrove trails and shallow waters.
  • Visitor Center: Features saltwater aquariums, educational exhibits, and a theater showcasing park history and conservation.
  • Picnic Areas & Grills: Shaded spots perfect for lunch breaks or group gatherings.
  • Campground: Tent and RV sites available with access to restrooms, showers, and electric hookups.
  • Boat Ramp & Marina: Launch your own boat to explore the reefs or go fishing in designated areas.

Operating Hours:

  • Daily: 8:00 AM – Sunset
  • Visitor Center: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Admission Fees:

  • Vehicle (2-8 people): $8 + $0.50 per person
  • Single Occupant Vehicle: $4.50
  • Pedestrians/Bicyclists: $2.50 per person
  • Boat Launch: $10

Park Rules:

  • Alcohol and glass containers are not allowed.
  • Pets must be leashed and are not allowed on beaches or in buildings.
  • Do not touch or collect coral or marine life.
  • Fishing allowed only in designated areas with proper licensing.
